Today in HeroScape!

It’s World Spine Day; Dund has a very cool-looking spine, so make sure you field him in your army today.

What other figs have cool or interesting spines?

Well, Su-bak-na's dragon is pretty much all spine and the marrden hounds show a lot of spiny plagueness.

It’s Wear Something Gaudy Day: Which HeroScape figure has the gaudiest look? (If you post a gaudy custom paint job, please make it your own or get permission. I don’t want this to turn into bashing people for their paint jobs.)

UPDATE: Discord concluded that Kelda is the gaudiest HS fig.

It's National Alaska Day: In 1867 the US purchased Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million dollars. Some players’ HeroScape collections are worth more than that today!

Build a HS map with lots of mountains, snow, and water to celebrate!

On the Discord server, Today in HeroScape is now a thread. Please join us there if you want to discuss!

I just learned the hard way how toxic the Heroscapers Online Discord server is! I'll be posting these to the Renegade Discord in the 'heroscape-chat' channel.

Really -- what's the problem with the HS Online Discord? I've pushed the envelope pretty hard over there, even using the term snowflakes to describe people and although some people were upset with me, I thought I was treated fairly. Maybe the problem is you?

Maybe. The problem was 'Today in HeroScape'. They didn't like me posting these daily in the general-heroscape channel so they gave it its own channel. I thought that was ridiculous, but I was fine with it too. Then people DMed the admin and said it was annoying that it had its own channel because it still showed up on their screens. So a few vocal idiots with bad cases of OCD or a vendetta got the channel shut down because the admin is a spineless tool.

Those same people have a beef with me because I made maps they hate and I won't bow down to their supposed competitive-map wisdom. They even berated some poor guy in their casual-maps channel because he used one of my maps and posted a pic of it.

I didn't call anyone names or post anything inappropriate. I was disliked for making a silly, daily post and making maps people disliked. So, sure, I'm the problem.

Recommend avoiding that Discord server. May seem like a good place for a while, but it is not worth any investment of your time.

PS - I'm not the only one that quit that server over it.

My experience has been completely different and I've been in there a long time. I've found the admin and a couple of the mods I've dealt with to be fair and standup individuals. I've had good interactions with them, and I was probably treated better than I should have been after referring (on the HS Discord) to the mods on the Renegade discord as f-ing tools and aholes (which they are).
I'm impressed with the way the HS Discord is run -- I think it is fair and informative.

And to be clear all of the Renegade mods may not be f-ing tools and aholes, but a couple of them are and I believe I called them out by name in my post.

Looks like your mileage may vary. Fair enough.

But let’s see some mileage on awesome HS bridges instead!

On 20 October 1967, a fake bigfoot was filmed at Bluff Creek in northern California. Yes, that famous, grainy film clip. Time to play some Quasatch Hunters! Send them to beat up a squad of Soulborg in revenge for filming them.

It’s National Reptile Awareness Day: What is your favorite reptile in HeroScape? (Dragons and Dinosaurs count!) Mine is Tornak’s dino mount.

It’s National Scar Appreciation Day. Do you have any (physical) scars from HeroScape games?

Which HeroScape character has the best scar?

It’s National Boston Cream Pie Day - the favorite dessert of the 4th Massachusetts Line! (Very slim pickings today.)

On this day in 1593, a Spanish soldier named Gil Perez was teleported from his post in the Philippines to Mexico City. Many claim this as proof of alien abduction, but it could have been a failed attempt by Einar (a keen student of Earth military history) to bring Gil to Valhalla (which would, technically, still be an alien abduction).

I think Imperial Spanish forces would be great historical units, be they conquistadors or later forces. Could also be appropriate to combat the growing pirate threat on Valhalla. Even a non-historical force of pirate hunters/space marines from another alien planet would be great.

Two famous military actions occurred on this day, the Battle of Agincourt in France in 1415 and the Charge of the Light Brigade in the Crimean War in 1854 (1-1 for the Brits). Which HeroScape units will you use to recreate which battle?

It looks like you've mixed old Castle Walls with the new AOA Walls! Very creative! I just got my Master Set recently so haven't had time for this kind of thing yet, although I have used the new walls in a solitaire game. You can see my rules for Illusory Walls on my signature thread. The idea was mentioned during the original Haslab Offering, but never shown.

According to Dadscaper, a member of the War Council, it was supposed to be a scenario rule in a future battle, rather than the permanent way the new walls were to be used! So I made up my own rule, using old castle walls, and we had fun with it. This was in a scenario where I tried to recreate that old Haslab photo of their display battlefield, featuring everything they were offering unpainted in garish colors of plastic!

Later on one of our gang got some of the 3D privately printed walls, and left them here for us to use in our monthly games, which we have started to do. I look forward to the upcoming separate set of Renegade Walls, to get them in greater quantity...

Castle Walls are wonderfully functional, but Laur Ruins (aka AOA Walls) are gorgeous. I’m traveling for a few weeks, so I don’t know when I’ll have time to check out your Illusory Walls scenario. But I printed a few Laur Wall pieces in light blue that would make great illusions:

The Gunfight at the OK Corral in Tombstone, Arizona occurred on this day in 1881. If we recreate the shootout, who will the HeroScape cowboys stand in for? We need more figures than those four, so who else should we use? (BTW, I started watching the Netflix series “Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War” on a long flight, so I’m very keen on this answer!)
