We had two fun games of Renegade Online Scenario #4. This is the only one of the series so far that takes more than 2 Players, and is one of my favorites!
Game One
Sherman Davies brought his army with Major Q10 (see armies above), and destroyed my Samurai badly, due to my having terrible die luck. The whole fight between two 500 point armies, who each kept their pieces in a single start zone, took place down on the border area rather than on the raised central plateau, where the action more usually takes place.
His Sgt. Drake and Mielki also got into the action. I have to say, he played precisely; playing my army like a violin. I had added Gureri-Oni to my army to make 500 points, but I wasn't able to get many hits on attacks. I went after his big soulborg first, and never even took him down.
In only about four rounds, he had wiped me off the map, while hardly losing anything himself. At the exact moment when I was ready to surrender, Kolakoski, who was arriving late as expected, walked through the door!
Game Two
This was a much longer game, that went all eight rounds. I played an augmented 600 Points of my Demon Hellfire Club, Sherman played his dwarf army, and K. his Phantom Knight army (both 400 points), and we all placed in a single start zone once again.
This time almost all of the action took place up on the central plateau, and we exploded some of the wall towers! Sherman and I had two one round truces, including at the start. This was so we would avoid a major fight on the lower outskirts at our common border, and be able to climp up to the central plateau uninterrupted. I didn't use any Bound Heroes for my Acolytes, preferring to use the Father Caylus bonuses to them only, which the others thought a mistake on my part; I hadn't played them or Caylus previously.
Now we all fell to into the spirit of a three way free for all, with everyone attacking everyone else on the central plateau. Figures were especially clustered around the cental dias, which K. grabbed first and held for quite a while. I got to put an Enfeeblement Marker from Father Cayliss on Sherman's Mogrim Forgehammer, which was a surprise to him, since it was our first time using Caylus. I almost never play Demons myself. When I was making the truce with Sherman I kept my practice of never going back on my word, although as a Demon I was sorely tempted o break it for the first time ever. But I chose not to do that, as I also wanted to get up into the center of the board! There was still some fighting for me to do on our border however, as a dwarf had seized the Disengagement glyph, and held it for most of the game, despite my many assaults on him.
Toward the end K. was ahead on points--which we stopped to count once time, and saw it was still a pretty close game. My Isamu hit his Prince Al Kahora with six dice--since the prince works for Jandar, I got that bonus which others had forgotten about. It had taken me most of the game to clear the nearby Disengage glyph from dwarf control, so finally I had Isamu holding it, and he came off it for this to attack from height! This was a great 'secret' ninja strike, and my end game cool move which wounded the Prince so that he finally fell soon after.
Hey, come to think of it, I got so mixed up with all the different army point values, that I forgot to also add the Kozuke Samurai for my 600 Points in Game 2. Yikes!
K. did win. Final Score: Kolakoski 105, Chas 62, Sherman 25
Sherman Davies took some photos, which should be up soon. This is a great scenario! Since Taeblewaker was absent at the last minute due to snow upstate, and Thrasher Darkrai unavailable, I'm still looking forward to a first 4 Player in the future. Perhaps those who built armies that didn't get into the game like Kolakoski and Taeblewalker, will be able to use them on a future date.
