Not quite convinced they're always right about that; injuries and underperformance can make a lot of pitcher contracts look bad near the end, but special guys can be the exception, and Burnes has a decent chance of being one of those special guys.

Corbin Burnes needs Tommy John surgery and will miss the 2025 season.

Oof... between Jordan Montgomery and now Corbin Burnes, I've jinxed Arizona's two best starters. My sincerest apologies to Dysole and D-Backs fans everywhere.

Man, with all this Rafael Devers drama, it looks like Netflix picked the wrong season to make a docuseries about the Red Sox.
 
Franchise has been a joke since they either traded or allowed the core to walk after 2018. Interesting that they unloaded a 250mil contract just when they needed 200mil for a soccer transfer. Ownership has somehow made things feel worse and than it ever was pre-2004. Glad I got my run, not sure we'll see much until the franchise changes hands again.
 
They're still the most successful franchise of the 21st century with four World Series, so at least you've got that going for you.
 
It's very funny to me that Arizona kicked off this century by beating the best team in baseball in an epic 7 game series and has since spent a bunch of time oscillating between terrible and good enough to get your hopes up before we disappoint you in a new and exciting way. Thank goodness Towers is no longer in charge of them.
