ScapeCon III: August 9-13, 2023

OEAO,
I have someone that is thinking of attending a couple of the days. I know that the events are not decided yet, but he is trying to figure out what days he wants to come. Is there some general pattern that you follow for events that I can share with him? I will continue to see if he can be there more days, but any help would be appreciated.
Thursday-Saturday are the full days. This year, each day will have 1 main championship that’ll run all day. Alongside that will be side events that are 4 or 5 rounds long. Figure 1-2 side events in each time slot (morning, afternoon, evening). I’m hoping to have the championship formats nailed down sometime soon, and once that’s set, I can post the general details for them as well as which ones are which days.

Following up on this- of the three big events (Thursday, Friday, Saturday), the Saturday one will allow VC. Not sure if that helps, but I have a feeling it does. ;)

Of course, this will not be the only VC event all weekend- there will be some VC-inclusive side events.

Last year the SC Events were posted by April 2, 2022 and the Maps were posted by June 2022.

Is the intention to do the same this year? That is, can we expect the events to be posted this coming week or so? Same as maps? or will those be a bit delayed from the events as well?

Fwiw last year SC was a month earlier. So events releasing ~ May 2nd would be the same amount of prep time.

Boromir is correct- I'm hoping to get events up by the start of May, but it may be closer to the end of May by the time everything is fully finalized. If the big event formats are completely finished earlier, I'll at least get those up.

Maps should be up by the beginning of June.

Events will be posted on May 27th. Maps should be posted right around then as well.

Although I heard that the 5 Championship formats are going to be spoiled tonight on the Tales of Valhalla podcast. 9:30ish Eastern (we'll be talking about ScapeCon in general, the events lineup, and the Championship formats).

That was a fun listen. OEAO, can you quickly post the 4 championship events with point and figure totals?

Also, for the world championship draft pod format on Sunday, if you win the dice-off do you pick first or get your choice of first or second? And second person to pick gets 2 picks, correct, with it then reverting to 1 pick, 1 pick, etc.?

Thanks to Chris Perkins for typing this up:

Wed: No side events, just Hydra

Thurs/Fri/Sat : Swiss, 5 Rounds, Cut 4-1 +
1 Side Event along championship (opposite of VC/Classic)
Afternoon : Top Cut + 2 Side Events (1 Classic, 1 VC)
Night : 1 Side Event

Sun: 1-2 Side Events (morning)

Wednesday, Event #1: Three Headed Hydra
Delta (Not B+ & Under)
480 Points
18 Figures
Nothing duplicated between armies

Thursday, Event #2: Delta Rule of 12
Rule of 12
510 Points
18 Figures

Friday, Event #3: Reverse the Whip
460 Points
18 Figures

Saturday, Event #4: VCheese
455 Points
20 Figures

Sunday, Event #5: Tournament of Champions
Top 4 of each Championship
3 from 3HH Winning team
Wild cards: total # wins
16 Spots
Draft : Pre-set pools
different pool each round
same for each game each round

For the draft, the order is 1-2-2-2-2 etc.; only the first pick is a single pick. Whoever wins the dice-off has first pick- no deferring.

The draft part will likely be timed as well to keep things moving.

That's great thanks. Now can someone explain why Samuel Frost has a wastebasket on the table? (Check out the podcast at the ten minute mark -- Joe Crazy's video of scenes from ScapeCon II in the upper right corner).

It’s full of Dumutef Guards.. no joke

Thanks Boromir. I thought he was either using it as a dice bowl or he'd made too many visits to the bar the night before and he needed something close by just in case. I'd forgotten that one of the items at the prize table at ScapeCon I was a Dumatef Guard carrying case in classic black.

I've updated this thread and created the events and maps threads.

If you are going to attend, PM me to pay. We still have 11 open spots.

I've got a buddy, Cheario, who plans to attend for some 1-day Badges.

He's figuring out logistics etc...but looking like he'll attend Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday.

My son and I are looking for a third for 3-headed Hydra.
