• Welcome to the Heroscapers 2.0 site! We've still got some dust to clear and adjustments to make, including launching a new front page, but we hope you enjoy the improvements to the site. Please post your feedback and any issues you encounter in this thread.

ScapeCon III: August 9-13, 2023

Payment period begins tomorrow, but we're still missing 26 people from the .org list. If you have not already, please follow the below instructions:

1. If you have not created an account yet at heroscape.org, please do so now here. Your username on there should match your HeroScapers username (or the name you usually go by at ScapeCon, if you don't have an account). Everyone attending will need their own account with their own linked email address.

2. Once you have created your heroscape.org account, sign up for ScapeCon III here.

If you have any issues, please contact Chris Perkins.

ALSO: You will be asked to provide your T-Shirt size with your payment; please do so. I really don't want to have to hunt down individual people. If you are paying for multiple people, include each of your sizes.

Payment and t-shirt announcement has been sent through the .org site.

PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR T-SHIRT SIZE(S).

I will resend the announcement every 3-4 days as more people sign up on the .org site.

Remember, the full payment is due February 18.

EDIT: I resent the announcement with the proper line spacing.

If you are signed up for the convention on .org but did not get the email, check your spam folder as a 1st step.

Haha! Resent has a dual meaning. Re-sent or resent as in abhor.

Hello, I am unsure how to pay for or whom to pay to for ScapeCon III and I don't see any thing on the.org site. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Just a reminder that I'll be sending out the payment announcement via the .org site every 3-4 days. Once you have paid, feel free to ignore the announcements for the next 1.5 weeks.

I'll post instructions for those on the waitlist closer to the 19th; I suspect there will be some open slots.

Hey all. I am planning to be at ScapeCon for only the Wednesday and the Thursday. If anyone wants to only go for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday send me a message and we could plan out combining our resources to purchasing a single pass.

Wait List Information:
Sign-ups are now open for those on the wait list. I just sent you PMs including more detailed information.

The wait list spots are being held for 1 week. At that point, anyone can sign up (it is unlikely that we'll sell out).

T-Shirt Information:
We will be ordering T-Shirts very soon. We need T-Shirt sizes by February 28. After that point, we cannot guarantee you a t-shirt in your size.

1-Day Badge Information:
1 Day Badges are now available! There are three options available:
Wednesday or Sunday: $55
Thursday, Friday, or Saturday 1-Day: $125
Thursday, Friday, or Saturday 1-Day No Breakfast: $110

A non-Wednesday/Sunday 1-Day Badge WILL include a T-Shirt.

Hotel Block Information:
Here is the link to the hotel block. When you book your room, it will automatically apply the code. Rooms are $134 a night.

Go ahead and put me on the waitlist, but it's only looking like a DeadEye One-shot of Nilfheim chance, I'll make it.

Love the direction the Main Event is headed. An overall Championship on the last day sounds awesome.

I've seen this happen! Hoping you can make it Paul!

Hey All,
I've been out of 'scape for years, but have gotten the itch and am happy to find there's a lot of life in the community. I'm curious as to what the current attitude is towards proxies at formal tournaments and conferences. I tried searching heroscapers.com for a relevant thread, but found nothing. Back in the day it made sense that you had to bring official everything because the game was still in production. But it's a different reality now (out of production, 3D printing, VC…). For conferences and tournies, what are the thoughts on:
• Rectangular Cards
• 3D prints of unit sculpts…
• If OK, do they need to be painted?
• Proxy sculpts - that have a similar look/feel to the original.
• WRT VC, single spaced sculpts - Can we keep them on the original base? (for a two space unit, there is an obvious need to rebase)
• And the most casual play idea: Combo of official sculpts with "pawns." Imagine having two squads of official sculpts and then a set of green "meeples" to proxy for a third squad. If there's ever a concern about LoS or can it fit in a space, swap the meeple with an official unit. Opponent gets to choose which units are swapped in case there are relevant differences in unit posture.

I'm posting this question to both the ScapeCon III and Hexicon threads. Sorry for the redundancy.

Hi!

To answer a few of your questions, 3D prints are accepted pretty much everywhere I've played (including ScapeCon). Some are painted & some are unpainted (I'm using a 3D printed Raelin that's still blue resin that I won as a prize at ScapeCon I, for instance). Occasionally the paint job might be needed for units with harder hit zones, but most of the time it's easy enough to tell line of sight questions anyways.

Pretty much anything as the card is fine; I've seen a range from normal cards to rectangular cards to using a phone with the card pulled up digitally.

For VC units, the rebasing is generally fairly lax for single-hex units, though it can get kinda annoying for the ones that don't stand up strait well without being rebased.

Also, for what it's worth, there's a pretty robust culture of figure sharing at ScapeCon and most other events. I know I always try to advertise a willingness to lend any figures when I can, and others do the same. For example, here's the figure borrowing thread from last year's ScapeCon II.

OEAO,
I have someone that is thinking of attending a couple of the days. I know that the events are not decided yet, but he is trying to figure out what days he wants to come. Is there some general pattern that you follow for events that I can share with him? I will continue to see if he can be there more days, but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks @Chris Perkins,
LeftOn4Ya said similar things in the Hexicon thread. I like that it's more about community and playing the game than it is about official paraphernalia. And I especially like the idea of lending figures, with a whole thread from last years ScapeCon devoted to it. I'm probably going to stay local for the next year. But this gives me ideas on how to cultivate my collection, and feel good about jumping into multi day travel events next year!
