Whoa!?! Is this a Heroscape Convention held in North Carolina?!? Set for January 17-20 (MLK Weekend)?!? That's going to be super fun?!?! Yes, yes, and yes.

After a hugely successful first year organizing Heroscape Tournaments in the Carolinas, we've decided to host SAScon! Huge shoutout to @Trivia Knight for working with me on this. Additionally, yuge shoutout to all of the South Atlantic Scapers who have attended one or more of our tourneys this past year. Without such solid attendance numbers from Scapers in the Carolinas, who knows if this would be happening!?!

SAScon will be a weekend full of Scape, Scape friends, Scape prizes, SAS swag, cringe Scape puns, and whiffed dice rolls. What could be better??

Let's get to some details:
Who?
Anybody who wants to play tons of Scape while hanging out with Heroscapers from all over!

What? A multi-day event that consists of 7 tournament slots, including a Main Event with a top-cut. We will have a game library for attendees to enjoy (contributions are encouraged!)! While nothing official is planned for away from Dragon's Hoard, Scape cons frequently consist of grabbing meals and, generally, hanging out with other Scapers.

When? January 17-20, 2025. One tourney will be held Friday evening, and one will start Monday morning, with most of the events on Saturday and Sunday. The Main Event is planned for Sunday. Monday, 1/20, is MLK Day. Dragon's Hoard has agreed to open early (9 AM) for us. They have also expressed that a tournament running until around 10 PM is perfectly fine. Don't worry about what Google says their store hours are.

Where? A rad FLGS: Dragon's Hoard: 4645 W Market St Suite A2, Greensboro, NC 27407. Dragon's Hoard has two big rooms. Their primary space is their retail space, with products for sale, vending machines, a Keurig, some couches, and some rows of tables for people to play games as they please. The second room at Dragon's Hoard, what we will refer to as the event space, is a large, open room with tables, chairs, a stage space, and so much room for activities. SAScon will primarily occur in the event space. There is a grocery store (Food Lion) and a McDonalds in the same shopping center as Dragon's Hoard. There are many great restaurants nearby.

Why? While playing Heroscape is top-notch, the community is even better. Come be a part of both!

How? Signing up and submitting payment will occur on the Dragon's Hoard website. I will post when the Badges are ready for purchase on the Dragon Hoard website. In the meantime, if you think you will be able to make it, go ahead and register on the SAScon Heroscape.org page. Your name being on the .org list does not reserve your spot. Once Badges are available for purchase on the DH website, I will first send out that link via the .org announcement feature (everybody registered for SAScon on .org will get an email when this happens), and then secondly, I will update this post to include the link to buy badges.

Hotel Info: We do not have any hotel block information. You are responsible for finding your own lodging.

Food: there are restaurants (fast food and sit-down) within walking distance. There is also a grocery store (Food Lion) in the same shopping center as Dragon's Hoard. We will order pizza on Sunday for dinner.

The worst part of SAScon:
On the third Saturday of each month, Dragon's Hoard has its "Geeksboro Market" in its event space. The Geeksboro Market will occur on the Saturday of SAScon and temporarily displace us from the event space into the retail space. This means moving some maps from one room to the next one Saturday morning and then moving those maps back over Saturday evening. While this isn't ideal, it should be fine.
Here is one description of the Geeksboro Market:
Geeksboroans both old and new -- join our community of fans, geeks, nerds, artists, crafters, collectors, vendors, and everyone else for (our) Geeksboro Market. Beyond giving folks a chance to snag great finds and amazing deals, the market will also showcase tabletop gaming, card games, free to play arcade games, video game tournaments, and more!

More Info:
If a game goes to time, we will use partial card scoring to determine the winner.
We will refer to OEAO's ScapeCon Rulings thread for some corner case rulings.

NOTE: I did not wait until we figured out every little detail to start this thread. Instead, as soon as we reached a point in our discussions with Dragon's Hoard that we knew this was going to happen, I went ahead and posted ASAP so that people could begin reserving dates on their calendars.

Oh man, that's the same weekend as my wife's birthday. It'll be tough but I'll try. I did have a question though, what is a "slot"?

It means a tournament slot. Depending on attendee's it could mean 1-3 tournaments at a given time. There will be multiple tournaments per day.

This looks like it will be a lot of fun. What is the estimated start and ending time each day?

Precise plans are still being ironed out.
My current projections say that events will start each day at 9 AM and end each day around 10/10:30 PM.

I have family in Greensboro...I may just have to go to this! only 36 spots is pretty small though considering you just had 31 at your monthly event! Do they have capacity for more?

ah man, if you come out I gotta figure out a away to attend. It's 10 minutes from my house.

We're going to keep the capacity set at 36 for this event. If more people want to attend than that, we'll take that into consideration for future events (no promises!).
