NOTE: These are preliminary rankings without having played with or against most of these new units. These are definitely subject to change. Comments and speculation are welcomed!

These Power Rankings are inclusive of the Hasbro-released units from the original run of the game (2004-2010) and the Renegade releases. For my original run only Power Rankings, please see OEAO's Legacy Power Rankings.

These Power Rankings are meant to be a modern look at the Competitive HeroScape scene and the value each unit has within an army in a variety of formats.

A few more notes:

First, to clarify, this does not take into account any of the other spoiled cards from the AH campaign.

Second, we go much more in depth into the units on the pod.

Third, I could be a bit bullish on some of these, so I could see them dropping a bit. For example, all the pirates could drop a bit if Admiral isn't as good as I'm expecting him to be.
 
Great stuff! I have always liked seeing these rankings included in the books; I will add a link to the books I update.

Well, remember that these are still preliminary. :) They're definitely still subject to quite a bit of change.
 
I dropped Irene to B. We were all talking about Knights on the pod as if they could bond with her, when they clearly can't. I can't see taking her with Frostclaws, so B seems about right.
 
Some edits after having played with and against just about all these:

Xenithrax A- -> B+: one of my co-casters talked me up to an A-, but it's difficult to line up the special well from what I've seen. I'm not sure that Xeni is better than Moltenclaw.

Admiral EJ-1M A- -> B+: a step below Q10 for now with the current pirate support.

Knaves B+ -> B: a bit too squishy for a Unique bonding squad. I like the Exiles (used solo) quite a bit more.

Fia Bonny B+ -> B: needs another bonding squad (which should hopefully be coming).

Loviatak B- > B: I was a bit low on Lovi. The Lovi Rae combo is pretty solid with cheap Utgar squads like Blades, and Lovi by herself isn't bad with Minions.

The big takeaway is that I was a bit bullish on the pirate faction (for now), as I thought I might be.

I will post another update post-ScapeCon (where we'll get to see these figures in action in a variety of formats). I would love to see Frostclaws move up to A- (I think they're really solid), but time will tell.

Feels like he costs too much for what he offers, even with the healing, when compared to other units in his price range, like Kaemon Awa.

Honestly, I considered bumping him up to B. Like Lovi, I think I was a little low on him in my initial ranking. However, I still don't love investing 190 points into BBN + Knaves when the Knaves are so fragile. I can definitely see raising him once the Dreadnaughts release (hopefully unchanged...).

Of course. We were working under severe time constraints and I am please that we nailed all the designs, to my satisfaction, even if we could not dial in every price point precisely where it needed to be. Regardless, I want some variety in power levels. If we smoothed everything over at B+ then what would we leave for the communtiy to do?

I look forward to seeing how these play out over their lifespans in the community, and I can play my boy BBN in Delta events if he is truly bad in other formats.

I would have to think that the top of the heap pretty much got knocked down a decent amount.

I certainly don’t speak for the whole community, but in general those are not being taken into account for any community purposes, and are staying as “Renegade Points”, much like the renegade rule changes, and won’t be a factor for a majority, if not all, competitive events

To me, I'm curious why Intimidate doesn't benefit Marro figures in addition to pirates. You nailed Dorim with how well he works in both Dwarf and Pirate armies. It seems like just an oversight that the Marro pirate doesn't have dual synergies too.
At least Crimson Widow can hire the Marro Warriors.

We were trying to thread a needle: everyone who gets the AoA box should feel like it’s enough to play, and everybody who has the old stuff should feel like it’s compatible, and has *some* synergy.

Note that BBN does have a d20 power, as the other Marro do. But we didn’t want to make designs that called out synergy with units that were not in the (very large) box.

All that said, I like your idea and it sounds fun. We just chose a different path.

I imagine those point changes shake some things up. I am waiting to incorporate those changes based on what the community ends up doing. It isn't clear whether the new points will be widely used in community events.
 
A few post-ScapeCon updates:

Fen Hydra A- -> A: He's very good in the right army, and johnny's win with Q9 Rats Hydra cemented Hydra in A tier for me.

Xenithrax B+ -> B: I underestimated this sculpt. He's not impossible to fit, but man is his sculpt rough.

Death Knights B- -> B: They're on par with Warforged now. Not that that's much of an accomplishment, but still, they're decent.

Shiori AoA C+ -> B-: Vanish on a multi-life hero warrants the bump. Having played her, she can be tough to kill, and she belongs in B-.


I might do a larger overhaul at some point to spread out the rankings a bit more and increase the granularity from B+ and down, but that update is not today.
