Lord Hierarch - 'Maps' and Scenario's (from other games)

So I don't have maps. Or Virtualscape which I could download, but I have PPT. And my computer is bloated and in need of trimming XD.

So in lieu, I used Manoftingblog's map scan.

It is 4x2 24-hex tiles. So 8 plates (192 tiles).

So if I'm not making my own maps, what am I doing?

I am translating maps I find from other war/skirmish games to Heroscape. There are of course no perfect 1-1 maps, but these are something of a fun project for me.

To start of with: King's Landing!

There would of course be modifications. Reduce the wood line, and the river too. Add little 'floating isles' in the river to add as hoppers to reflect the burning royal fleet.

It ain't pretty, but its a start!

The ruins would be the ruin walls, probably have a glyph in each or some such.

The city walls? The Fortress walls, of course!

Unit values would probably be 2v1 in favor of the attacker.

The urban sprawl could be ruin walls too, or something else IDK.

Maybe some scenario rules - if the Attacking Army has more points after a certain number of rounds, a reinforcng army arrives from the 'north' equal to the number of points of the defending army.

To keep with the thematic of the battle, maybe the Attacking Army would be split in two. Some units stuck on the other side of the river, while the main body has to cross the Open Field and the River to join the attack.

In all, a start!

Now, THESE are not based on the Manoftings map pic.

These are, in fact, from a sketch I made a year or two ago - wowzers - that got me thinking about Heroscape maps. And why I use Powerpoint :p.

Its just a rough concept. It lacks details like hills and stuff. And I don't even have any idea of balance or what not.

Both are based on a rough drawing of an image I saw from a wargame map.

Yellow - Field tiles. 4x4 all around. I ain't filling in all that space XD XD.
Green - Forests. Probably have to be customs, IDK.
Blue - Water. For the 1st scenario, impassable.
Grey - Road. There is a bridge that goes across the river.

Red Squiggles - The Ruin Walls.

The 1st scenario was the Red pushing up the road, taking the bridge - in this case, that ruin probably has a glyph there - while purple has to hold the bridge and the ruin. And last the turn.

The forest provides some cover for long-range units, IMO.

In Scenario two, it was a defense scenario. The defenders were fortified on the twin hills overlooking the road, and repairing artillery (?). The attacks were coming down the road. The goal of the defenders is to repair the artillery and destroy the enemy, while the attackers get potential reinforcements from the other side of the map but risks giving the defenders time to set up.

I imagine the defenders as Utgar, with them repairing DW9K's. And Marrio warlords on each hill, lol.

And a recent one:

Using the Battles of Westeros Scenario.

Jandar - 10 hexes.
Utgar - 3 on the hill. 3 in the front row. 7 in the back row.

That's how the scenario is. But most likely just shove em as far as back to the edges as possible.

Spoiler Alert!

Still using Manoftingblog's map. The brown tiles are 1-level higher. The black is a level higher than even that!

Green are tree's.

The Blue Line is water tiles. The Black is another color. Figure that out XD.

Red squiggles are the ruin walls. You'll need 4 here.

Using this map and its parts:

MNT3k8g.png
Terrain under brown areas ought to be raised 2-3 levels and lower behind and in front 1 tile.
“Road” tiles are part of the map, not raised on top.
Goal of Army 1 will be to have as many units survive the ambush on the hills – get a minimum of XX points to win the game.
Must have 1 Unique Hero that if killed will over 2x the points?

Army 1 defenders the hill. Has initiative.
Army 2 will be split in 2.
300 pts total?

Actually for this last one maybe a King of the Hill type game? Both armies on either side, separated by that lil woodline, able to take pot shots if they want to. Have to walk down and around the hill and around to get to the hill.

Maybe remove one tree from the bottom trio.
