Lord Hierarch - 3D Printed Custom Terrain

A companion to my Custom Units thread!

And the Fanfic thread!

All these figures and models are free to find on Thingiverse and what not.

All I've done is used the slicer to merge the models together. Just slapped them on the tile, tinkered with scale, and pushed it out.

Primed with Rustoleum Primer. Painted with Apple Barrel.

The tiles are little loose with the official tiles, but I find this as a bonus. Why?

1. Its 3D Printed tiles. Buy official :p.

2. These are top terrain pieces. So not an issue.

To start off, the first terrain I ever printed:

Black single tiles.

My Prusa mini is secondhand, I've had it for 2 years. It been having issues the past few months so the quality ain't top notch, but I don't play heroscape for the quality of the mini :p.

Also, buy official! XD XD.

My second piece.

KREE, JAFFA!

Printed over a year ago, got around to priming and painting a few months ago XD XD.

I like the dark brown around the edges, the tiles are different dunno where I got them - Thingiverse, obviously - and I probably should've sized the whole thing a bit bigger cause you can't fit a single mini through the chappa'ai :p.

And the Stargate itself is unpainted/primed because its the 2nd gate. The 1st one started warping cause I left in the sun and if you look at the pedestal, the left tile has started curling as well so its not that secure, but it still snug on the top tile! Which is where it'll always be :p.

And now something I printed and painted last month!

This one I didn't thin my paints as much as I should've. I wanted to see what the difference was. Couldn't see much difference till after it drie but for what I did, it looks great XD XD.

The Marro Warlord, for scale.

You'll never be able to hide a unit behind it, unless they're super thin and tiny.

But boy its a cool piece of terrain :p.

*Gasp*

Also printed and painted last month.

Someone on Reddit asked what the lore behind this was. I didn't have any but made this up on the spot: Its the power stone that fits into the Galactus Gauntlet, a mythical weapon that grants the wearer the Power Cosmic! The Valkyrie have guarded it for millennia since it fell to Vahalla, its awesome power too great for even them to wield!

But now that war has broken out, the wards keeping its awesome contained have weakened. The generals have sent their armies to secure the stone - but will they use it or contain it?

And now something I printed yesterday!

The Argonath. Was reading the LOTR custom thread and wandered into Thingiverse to see if there was anything I could proxy. Found this. Remembered the movie.

So, why not?

Originally it was not going to be so big.

Behold, the Mininath:

Fun fact. The black tiles were part of the Mininath's. But there was weird issue they snapped off as soon as the feet started. I merged the files a little closer but got the successful model - and dropped it. It broke off the base.

So I decided, F' it. Go big or go home.

This one I will try and prime and paint his week.

I will need to do some sanding, tho. The word scarring on the back of the statue has persisted for months and I don't know how to fix it

I'm thinking just grey primer with grey paint and light grey.

Maybe gold helmet?

And let's put it all together:

(I appropriated the dragon from my nephew don't tell him!)

That's all folks!

Thanks for reading through these quick posts :p.

If you made the bottom of the gate fit entirely in the pedestal (i.e. you couldn't trip over it) it would allow for more epic placement in the gate and allow you to scale the whole thing bigger while not going overboard (stargates are obviously very big but at the same time they aren't overwhelmingly big. And it would be cool if the stargate had two hexes inside the gate, but maybe that makes the whole thing too big.

I did try rescaling to make the gate so a unit can walk through - a gate can fit on 1 hex albiet hangs a bit over the sides :p - but it did look too big, scaling wise.

As it is, it's small enough for the scale of the game, but big enough to be useful terrain.
