Do the Microcorp get the water bonus on swamp water?

I had always wondered this question myself, so I do thank all who participated and came to a conclusion in favor of them getting to use their suits in the swamp. Sweet. I'm gonna whoop my sons' little buts now!!!!!

If Jotun throws a figure into swamp water, does it have to roll for throwing damage?

The rulebook says that any power that refers to water also means swamp water, but it also says swamp water does not negate falling damage.

I think this is one of those "letter of the rule vs. spirit of the rule" things, so I'm not sure.

We play you have to roll for damage SINCE you have to roll for falling damage.

Well a rules lawyer would say no, since it says to treat swamp water like water for all special powers. However, someone with the spirit of the rule in mind would say you should, since you roll for falling damage on swamp water.

I say roll for damage.

I would definately say roll for damage.
Did someone just divide by zero? Is the world coming to an end?
I'm scared.
Hold me.

Swamp water is water but water is not swamp water, eh?

What is this an SAT question?

Which of the following statements are true?

A-All swamp water is water but all water is not swamp water.
B-All swamp water is water and all water is swamp water.
C-Onacara is a pretty funny guy even when he is making fun of me.
D-A and C but not B
E-All of the above.

The "letter of the rule" says swamp water is treated as water for all purposes except falling damage and it can be walked through. This would mean there is no roll for damage if Jotun throws into swamp water.

The "spirit of the rule" is forcing the opponent to roll for damage? :? Isn't the "spirit of the rule" usually translated into "give the guy a break", not "nuh uh, you're rolling for damage!"...

Probably, 'cuz I don't know what I'm talking about. :D

What I was try to reference is kind of like what you saw: despite the fact that there seems to be a clear ruling on it, 3 out of 4 people still say roll for damage.

You roll for damage when Juton throws onto swamp water. Do I need to sic theGuru on this thread?

It says in the rule book that anything that says water can be used in swamp water. but anything that says swamp water can only be used in swamp water.

WHile not Microcorp related, swamp-water is a bit confusing... it's water for the Microcorp, but not water for falling... or for moving. That is, you can move through water without stopping and you take falling damage if you fall into it.
So does every water related ability work on swamp water? Like water elemental's water tunnel? Or Sauhagin(idk how to spell it lol) raider's water bonus? Or Ewashua's twister special attack? Because if it doesn't count as water when moving or falling, but DOES count as water with microcorp agent's ability, I feel like it would work for every water ability that doesn't specify not swamp water

Yes

Wellspring Water also counts as water for this. I don't know about falling damage, but it specifies in the rules that is acts like Water in every way.
