City Scape board building ideas

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

I found some motorcycles in Toys R Us that fit great on one hex. They're called Nitro Mites. I got one (blind purchase in a bag) for $1.50 today.

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

Blind purchase huh? Do you know what the possibilities are (pictures on a display stand or the package itself) or is it a complete surprise? With more and more motorcycle options, we might need a DO for them soon. It would be cool to have Hulk pick one up and throw it at someone too. I actually used some of my motorcycles today on a city map, but just as movement blockers as they were parked next to a building.

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

There's 24 pictures on the back of the bag plus they have some packs where you can see what you're getting. Since I didn't care about the colors, I just grabbed a bag. They also have Marvel licensed motorcycles for a little more. I was thinking about getting the pack with Captain America's bike.

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

I might be heading to Toys R Us sometime soon. Capt. Americas bike would be pretty tempting depending on how it looks. Throw up some pics if you get a chance. I'd love to see how they match up in size with the bikes I already have.

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

A couple weeks back I stopped by Toys R Us and managed to find those Nitro Mites, I didn't buy any though. They just were not what I was expecting. A little on the small side and really cartoony in style. I don't think they would have fit in at all with the Hot Wheels motorcycles and 1:43 scale trucks I have already. Thanks for letting me know about them though quozl, I would have never found them had I not been actively searching for them as they were not in the superhero or toy car section.

I did stop by Walmart today and picked up some new motorcycles though. No pictures to post right now but a quick review. I got the Ducati 1098R, it is a yellow sporty racing bike similar to a Ninja. The riders hands are now circles that envelope the handlebar grips so the figure does stay on quite nicely, however he is sculpted in a position to suggest that he is leaning into a turn which throws off the bikes balance. I could not get the bike to stand up on it's own at first, unlike all the other bikes I have, but then suddenly it did stand on it's own. So while possible to get the bike to stand up freely, I think I'll end up having to make some kind of stand for this one.

The other bike I got was the Blast Lane. It is a chopper style bike and the figure only has one hand on the handlebar. Since they had a bunch of this one in stock I actually bought 3 of them with the intention of someday turning them into my G.I. Joe Dreadnoughts. I'm going to try to cut away the arm he has across his lap and replace it with an arm holding the appropriate weapon. Flame thrower for Torch, Chainsaw for Buzzer (or even a chain saw gun if the soon to be released Gears of War minis have something I can use), and a gun with a big blade on the end for Ripper. I don't expect the weapons and arms to be too difficult to find and mod with the help of some green stuff, it will just take some time collecting it all. The harder part will be finding 3 new heads. I think a head with a Mo-Hawk for Ripper I can actually find, but then Torch and Buzzer heads I'm not too sure about.

Anyways, don't expect to see these custom figures anytime soon as I have tons of projects sitting around not getting done already but I wanted to share my plans with you all in case someone was interested in following my lead. The Hot Wheels Motorcycles might not be so easy to find a year or two from now when I finally get all 3 custom figures done so buy them now.

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

That mod sounds great! I know what you mean with alot of mods still in the idea phase/ in pieces stage. I have wanted to turn the giant machine gun Punisher into Roadblock since I saw the figure, but alas, no cuts yet.

By the way, they are called Dreadnoks. ;)

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

Yeah, the Nitro Mite motorcycles fit in better with the Hot Wheels cars C3G uses, not the 1:43 stuff.

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

Hmmmm....I have that Punisher figure with the huge chain gun and never thought about him as Roadblock. That sounds like a good idea so be sure to share your results and process if you ever get around to it. I'm still holding out hope that Heroclix will announce a G.I. Joe line base on the 80's comics but since it does not look like that will happen custom jobs is the only alternative.

I actually have my own thread in the custom figures section where I have a lot of Cobra units made, you should check it out. Oh, and thanks for the ideas for more!

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

I think the Nitro Mite is definitely closer to 1:43. Here are a couple of quick, low-light shots with the Clix Batmobile and Robincycle...

Very close scale match, IMO.

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

Yeah, that looks good, IMO.

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

Went on a bit of a toy hunt and shopping spree yesterday. Here are some of the C3G related stuff I got that were not clix figures.

Toys R' Us has 3 packs of 1:43 cars for just $8. A couple different options for vehicles so I picked up 2 of the 4 they had to choose from. The other 2 included a small SUV (Porshe & BMW models) if you are looking for something a bit bigger for your figures to hide behind.

Threw together a quick set up to show case how they may be used in an upcoming game. I present Traffic Jam:

The Hulk and Red Hulk are going at it in the middle of a busy road! Hulk pounds the Red Hulk into a Semi, causing it to jack knife and a biker to lay down his bike.

S.H.E.I.L.D. quickly responds and sends a team to quell the destruction before anyone else gets hurt. Agents snake their way through the backed up traffic hoping not to get noticed by the two brutes until after they are in position.

I also found a 3rd biker to complete my set of future Dreadnoks. Here are the 3 of them in their packaging (I picked up extras of the other two). The new one is the OCC Splitback and I think he will be my Torch figure. With his back straight up and down he look good with the flame thrower backpack on him.

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

Nice finds Yodaking! I like the Traffic Jam pictures and the accompanying story ya made for it. I can smell a scenario in the works for that one.

Hey, that's vaguely familiar for some reason...:D

If it would help you can reference pages 17 - 18 in my Interactive Terrain Guide. Here's the link:

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

Tracing out 3 hexes on a piece of paper and carrying in your wallet is a good idea. I'll have to start doing that. The Fastlane vehicles seems to be hit and miss for me at my Toys R' Us. I know I have looked for cars in the past and they didn't have any and I didn't see that Garbage Truck while I was there yesterday but I think I might have seen in a few months back. It looks familiar but I think I passed on it because it was so big in general.

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

Everyone knows that the Heroclix batmobile is just too much, so, what do you think the best alternative to it would be as far as scale (three hexes by one hex), comic book accuracy (no movies or classic Adam West) and price point? Just a question.

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

Three hexes is too long, IMO.

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

The Batmobile was a stretched out car, not a compact. I don't see how it could be only 2 hexes as still anywhere close to scale. The one shown in the pic at the top of this page covers most of 3 hexes and looks pretty good to me. I think that is the Heroclix one that just came out.

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

I think folks get too caught up in "exact" scale. Playability matters too. Since the title of this thread says "Scale in C3G" it's worth pointing out that C3G has Vehicle rules, including rules of movement that only work with 1 or 2 hex vehicles. I'm not really in favor of bothering to include a Batmobile in C3G if it's just a static object that can't actually drive around.

No doubt! The B.M, would be pitiful if it just sat in the Batcave all day! But, then again, the Bat Mobile is no normal car. The thing's a high speed tank! Three hexes seems right as far as scale goes, and I think that you/we could think up some good rules based on the two bagger cars that allows the Batmobile to move about as it should, with the massive size it should.

P.S.

You could cram that thing into a two hex zone if you wanted to, but there'd be quite a bit of overhang!

Re: A Discussion on Scale in C3G

:2cents: I have zero interest in working on movement rules for vehicles more than one hex by two hexes in size. We've tried it before and it got waaaaaay too complicated.

If someone could present a functional way for >2-Hex vehicles, I'd be in for it. However, none of my attempts were functional enough to be presented as a legitimate game mechanic.
