C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 53: The End?

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

Saw this posted on Discord, but I wanted to post it here as well. The WhoScape podcast by @Alexandros and @gbizzy did an interview of @IAmBatman , and naturally C3G (1.0 and 2.0) was a large point of discussion. It's a great listen.

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

It's a fun (and long!) chat

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

Question for C3G fans as we work towards our initial 2.0 releases: how many cards is too many to release at once?

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

The 54-card deck seems like a good number to me.

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

The 54-card deck seems like a good number to me.

That's the plan for the starter. But for context, if we were to release things quarterly, how much would be too much at once? We're capable of rolling out hundreds of cards at a time, at least initially.

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

54 is already a lot. I wouldn't release more than that at once.

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

It took about twice that to make that 1.0 library!

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

And if there are no changes on some cards from 1.0 to 2.0, I would like them released as a special release that doesn't take up a regular release slot because we already know those cards.

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

The bulk of early releases will be 1.0 conversions, not fully new stuff.

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

As mentioned on Discord, I am a fan of the huge massive release idea. I think that the sooner I can switch my favorite teams from 1.0 to 2.0 the better.

I know not everyone is excited about the shift to rectangular cards, but as soon as 2.0 versions are out I will be recycling my 1.0 versions. I think they will be easier to print, store, and look through.

That being said, I am excited for the future of the project (even if smaller releases is decided plan).

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

I don't really have a preference other than the sooner we can convert the 1.0 library, the better. I think I'd still be hesitant to release more than 108 or 162 at a time though. (2-3 decks of 54 cards each) Maybe start with a new 54 card release every other week (for as long as that's feasible) as opposed to one release per month. That way, we could still convert the whole library (and whatever new stuff gets added to the releases) at a faster pace, but still keep individual releases relatively small.

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

The plan is quarterly releases and I'm pretty sure that part at least is more or less set in stone. :)

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

Agreed. It's more a matter of how many would be too much at once in my opinion, and in what context that applies. Like if it's just the more intensive reworks and new designs that feel like too much in a mass dump of figures, that's good information to have.

Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | Wave 52: Curtain Call!

Also keep in mind...these massive releases won't be a forever thing...just the first year or so. Since a large portion of that is the faster process of converting cards. So if 162-216 cards (3-4 54 card decks) isn't too bad I think we can hang out in that realm and comfortably get the 1.0 library moved out at a comfortable pace. There will be new stuff mixed in with those releases so there would be something for everyone likely.

But the goal is to not parse out the 1.0 library in teasing chunks lasting years. It's also about making it less a chore for us. I was big on monthly releases in 1.0 as I thought it would keep the public engaged and interested...truth is we saw no quantifiable return on that idea and it just created more work for us in creating the release posts etc. So the plan is to have quarterly releases in bulk so folks have 3 months to comb through the offering and find their favorites.

We've been working on 2.0 for a year and have hundreds of cards finished. We were just curious how many released at one time would be way too many.

Presence wounds his own allies permanently to power them up.

THE COMING OF THE TOA
Tahu, Toa of Fire
Gali, Toa of Water
Lewa, Toa of Air

Six mighty warriors, known as Toa, have arrived on the island Mata Nui. Each controls a force of nature - fire, air, earth, water, stone, ice. But individually they cannot hope to defeat Makuta alone, so they must learn to work together despite their many differences in culture and personality. These Lego Bionicle legends finally arrive on the C3G battlefield.

The remaining Toa will eventually arrive in C3G 2.0 - the whole Toa team wasn't complete by the end of 1.0, but we felt releasing what we had was important for our fans!

FRIEZA FORCE & GINYU FORCE
Frieza Force Soldier
Great Ape
Captain Ginyu
Jeice
Burter
Recoome

Led by the emperor of the universe, Frieza, the Frieza Force is one of the greatest threats to the galaxy. Frieza Force Soldiers follow their leader out of fear rather than loyalty, focusing on attack power while a strong ally is nearby. Some of the strongest soldiers can transform into the mighty Great Ape, skyrocketing their power tenfold. Great Apes smash the ground with every strike they make, but their tails are a weak spot. Legend says even Saiyans such as Goku and Vegeta can turn into Great Apes.

The most loyal of Frieza's army is the flamboyant Ginyu Force, made up of 5 mutants of different species. The Ginyu Force delights in coming up with strange group poses, because they have to look cool on the battlefield. Captain Ginyu leads the group, and can switch bodies with an enemy if he fights someone stronger than him. Jeice is in charge of the poses, and can throw a crusher ball to inflict autowounds. Burter is the "fastest in the universe", constantly moving foes so the Ginyu Force can maintain a favorable position. Recoome is the brute of the force, grappling with foes and unleashing his Recoome Boom counterattack on defense. Guldo... wasn't done in time for 1.0's end, but he's so useless that the rest of the Ginyu Force didn't even notice!
