C3G Books of Index

I’ve been thinking about just dropping the arbitrary grouping of public designs and just numbering them each and using the “booster name” as the release name.

I'm not sure I like that idea. In part because of sheer quantity. We have over 170 public exclusives, a fair amount of which only really make sense to release as a group (Prime examples including, but not limited to, the Royal Flush Gang and the Trees of Life & Death/Uprooted Tree). Grouping them into sets of 5 makes them feel more... digestible, for lack of a better word. I feel single releases would quickly become confusing and untenable. Especially for those trying to keep track of releases over time. (ie people who don't check the site/index often and/or who only get notified via the newsletter/promo dept, neither of which include any info on public exclusive designs)

I think we would run into long-term issues if the public exclusives weren't grouped.

What long term issues? It’s just a word on the sortable index and at the top of the thread. Things could still be grouped if it made sense.

I don't 100% know. Part of it is a gut feeling, part of it isn't. Having a single-figure release just feels bad to me and it's difficult for me to put into words why that is. Especially at the sporadic rate public designs come out. What in particular do you feel doesn't work about the current way PECs are released?

If anything, I'd drop the single booster names. I think both having a name for the individual card's release and the group release is way too many names. I'd rather do a name for every five designs that finish than for every design that finishes, plus another name when there's a group of five.

I totally agree on that. Especially since the "by release" section is no more. The only other place to find the single booster name for PECs is the sortable index. Feels like too much effort to have the single booster names for them if you can only find that info in one place. The set release names are good enough in my book.

My point is that without the by release section there is no reason to group them, so I would drop the grouped names and just have the release name for each Public Design in the OP of their thread with the appropriate number.

Without the by release section, what's the reason to give them release names?

Wouldn't it be more useful in the sortable index to have groupings of five than for every public design to have its own name? (Also, again, a lot easier to name things in groups of five than to name every single design, just in terms of not running out of names as soon).

Not particularly. Plus you have to remember to go back and add the release info to each design. My method would let you do it upon release.

Adding the release info upon release does seem slightly easier, but at the same time, making quick edits to 5 books retroactively adding release info doesn't seem that difficult to begin with, provided you can remember which units need the editing.

I don't know if I'm overstepping my bounds here, but I particularly liked the group of 5 PEC releases and didn't see any issue with it. I can't speak for others, but they make sorting the sheer number of units more manageable for me. If the main issue is regarding the editing/logistics side of things, I would be more than happy to offer my aid. I was already staying on top of when we reached 5 public releases and attempting to organize discussions about the collection names, so a few extra tasks wouldn't be too much of an issue for me.

Nice job! What've you got next? (Obviously Cammy is in the works).

Thank you! Chun-Li (II) is next on my list. I'm debating about starting Chun-Li soon or to wait until Cammy is done so she can be tested with her. It's not vital she's tested with Cammy, but she works with Cammy a lot.

Creeper Vines after that, then maybe Psylocke or some more Overwatch.

You could always do Creeper Vines first and then Chun-Li after so Chun-Li and Cammy can be tested together.

Creeper Vines first sounds good to let Cammy release.

Thanks Splash! I'd definitely like to get Jocasta out, might go for her after Chun!
