Aquarium plant identical to Ticalla Jungle plant!

Over the weekend I picked up a pack of Zoo Med's "Betta Plants Window Leaf Plant" from a local pet food store. It looks like a virtual clone of one of the plants used to make Ticalla Jungle!

It comes on a bendy wire armature with a suction cup, but the individual fronds just slide off. You wind up with six 5-leaf fronds. I need to go get some additional plants to combine with them to make suitable LOS blockers.

I paid $3.99. It looks like you can order from Amazon for a paltry $1.21/ea. (Jeesh!)

Nice find. Definitely going on my list of the Future of Heroscape. I know there are other similar plants that work for the other ones on Jungle. Now we just have to figure out trees but I am guessing those will just need to be made from tubing of some sort.

For Scape evergreens, Christmas village trees (unflocked or flocked--to your preference) with the wood base cut off and a hole drilled through a grass hex work well.

The wire "trunk" goes into the hole of the hex, down far enough that the "leaves/branches" are flush with the base--getting the Scape LOS effect, then bend the wire off underneath and secure with glue, etc. as needed.

(I'll admit I haven't done this personally, but I've seen it done and it looks good.)

PetSmart also stocks a bamboo aquarium plant made of resin that takes up 2 hexes. Finished right off the shelf it looks good on the field. They're $4.99 each.

These are three of the plants used in the official TJ set to make a bush. This fourth one is a small plant I have been unable to find.
