Re: Zettians... gathering dust?
I saw that too, but there was really no reason to start a new thread on the topic, and Plordigian had an idea that hadn't been brought up before (in the thread). I'd say it was a good res.
Back on topic, this thread has got me to thinking about using the Zetians again. Maybe with Saylind? But that seems almost as bad. I don't need no instructions to know how to rock.

Re: Zettians... gathering dust?
Yes. That makes sense.
Without dark, there is no light. Without bad HScape figs, there are no good ones. Dund is important, therefore |

How would Valgaurd make them more playable?
I don't need no instructions to know how to rock.

Re: Zettians... gathering dust?
Nope, I keep mine in a bag, so dust can't get to them. But for realz here, I played against them today. They didn't do much damage, but then again, they took forever to kill. When ever I play against less experianced people (most of my friends), I generally take a less used figure... thin the difficulty of my army. Zettians, Dund and Runa are often found in my armies, but get few order markers.

Re: Zettians... gathering dust?
Seeing this thread revitalized inspired me to draft the Tweedle Brothers again in a game last night... and it turned out that they were the MVPs of the game!!
I put together a hodgepodge army of Q10, Braxas, Zettians, Warden, and a Dumatef and faced off against an army of 3x 10 Reg, Syv, spiders, and Sujoah. In the opening round, Q10 lumbered over to the left flank and put a quick damper on a 10th Reg maneuver by downing 2 advancing Brits. Seeing this potential obstacle, my opponent then shifted the charge to the middle/right flank, wisely using available walls and tree grove cover, effectively cutting Q10 off from the fight. In response, my two Zet Guards practically "sprinted" over to the right flank to deter such action. (and yes, I can use the word "sprint" with the Zets when they have a move of 5 with the Warden.) My lone Dumatef Guard was shot down by the advancing Brits, but as luck would have it, this created room for my Zets to move in to a good firing/blocking position. In the ensuing action, my Zets were able to pulverize over a squad of Brits while effortlessly shrugging off up to 4 shots per turn of 2, 3, and even 4 strength attacks. My opponent thought for sure he was facing off against miniature Q9's instead of the oft-maligned Zettians! It finally took an activation of Syvarris to bring down the first of the Tweedles with a lucky arrow to the circuit board. In response, the remaining Zet moved up and threw down two wounds on the elf in retribution for his fallen brother, before succumbing to the next arrow barrage. All in all, my opponent and I were simply shocked at the nigh invulnerability of the Zettians, and how they were able to do their job so well. While not winning the game, the Zettians were still undeniably the MVPs, shrugging off their poor reputation and putting on a newly revitalized badge of honor. Not that I'm dying to bring them to a tourney anytime soon, but those guys really can be fun to dust off once in a while and invite to the party!! Zettians... haven't used 'em in awhile? Break 'em out and take 'em for a spin! You might just be pleasantly surprised! (but please, don't get your hopes up... I mean, let's not get carried away or anything). Re: Zettians... gathering dust?
The last time I saw someone play Zettians, Nilfheim killed them both. The time before that, my Grimnak chomped them both (and a full squad of Ninjas of the Northern Wind). I remember a game about a year ago where Krug killed them both in one turn before he took any wounds. I don't like trusting my fate to the blue dice.
They'd be neat if they bonded with Deathwalkers, were common, or a 3 figure squad. Any of the above would probably make them worth 70 points more often. Maybe there's another Warden-like figure down the road that will boost them further? They could use a little help, (or just adventurous souls like SW8K). Hold up, I just got an idea for a custom... Re: Zettians... gathering dust?
I like using them with DW9K and having them on height. If facing hero's, I tend to use other units, but having 9 range attacks and explosion at range 7 helps against many squad figures. If they only had just one more figure though. That would just about make them fine. Lose 1 though and you lose their only true special (besides very high defense).

Re: Zettians... gathering dust?
Perhaps, since special hero powers let you break rules, there could be a hero that let you draft... dare I say it... two squads of Zetts?
GASP. All work and no play makes n1ck3l a dull boy... and it means you are spending too much time setting up the map. Get on with it! |
