Re: The Army Advice and Feedback Thread

Acolarh is not worth having unless you have a lot more elves in your army than that. Leaf of the Home Tree aura has low chances of working on any one elf, so you want to have enough elves to make the low odds worth it. Something like 5 squads of Warriors of Ashra.

I would drop Kyntela, Arkmer, and Acolarh for Haduc and either Chardris, Jorhdawn, or Morsbane, depending on what you expect to be up against. Emirroon is a must, in my opinion, but if you only get two or three Elf Wizards you mint could do without him. Especially if one of the other Elf Wizards is Haduc.

Re: The Army Advice and Feedback Thread

I don't use C3V, or any other customs for that matter, so Haduc is out. I personally usually have really lucky dice so I can save about 2 out of 3 Aubriens the first time they die. And usually at least one Aubrien on their second death. Usually at one hero too.

So therefore I save plenty . Very rarely I'll only save one or none. I also like the added move, which is probably actually the main reason I get Acolarh.

Emiroon sprints out and (hopefully) summons as many elves as he can. Get to a close quarters area and block it off with him and Arkmer. Aubriens Move in from behind and shoot down upon the enemy. **OR use Aubriens to pick off all the range before moving in the pod** While Ulginesh occasionally repositions and attacks with wizards.

I personally think a Kyntela Gwyn/Arkmer combo is more powerful than Chardris because he retains attack once other elves dies and can ward off melee figures. Jordawn, I really don't know why but I think because I use the aforementioned pod of elves I always incinerate my elves, therefore weakening her. Plus opponents spread out at the first sight of her.

These are my opinions, and according to your style your army is probably more powerful. Plus my not using C3Vs and other customs can change up the strength of figures. Thanks to my dice rolling Acolarh becomes much more powerful than he usually is.

Sorry for the long post,

Re: The Army Advice and Feedback Thread

Just posted in "I Could Beat That Army Thread" but I wanted to see how it actually stands against regulars.

185 Zelrig
465 The Einar Imperium x2
495 Gulity McCreech
495pts/9hex

There's probably a better answer for 35 points than Guilty but I wanted to keep the theme.

~HS2010, eager to know how figures he doesn't own play...?

Personally, I'd drop Tornak and the Heavies for Grimnak and Nerak. Three squads of Blades is still a good force, and with Nerak along for the ride, they might just live through some ranged attacks. Chomp is invaluable.

Also, this would give Ornak one more hero to activate via Red Flag of Fury.

Re: The Army Advice and Feedback Thread

I just had a fit-inducing thought:

Torin
Stingers x3
Raelin (RotV)
Deathreavers x3
500/24

Rats run up to distract everyone while torin and raelin get into position, stingers get around torin and start shooting.

I don't have Nerak but how would this fair:

100 Ornak
210 Brunak
330 Grimnak
450 Blade Gruts x3
500 Marro Warriors/Me-Burq-Sa (personal preference)
500pts/21hex or 19hex

If you go with MBS you still have three heroes to activate.

EDIT:

Looks good overall, but I really like Torin's style so that may just be me.

Re: The Army Advice and Feedback Thread

Army #1
I'd say it is better with ROTV Raelin, but SotM Raelin may make it easier for Nilfheim to swoop around the board and ice shard away. Problem is, the Greenscales won't be able to keep up, and they'll be stuck with two attack.

Army #2
Maybe I'm missing the point, but I don't see what Sonlen does for you. This army seems pretty weak. The SaT bomb is a weak one, and the Protectors will fall fast without Raelin or a screen.

Army #3
This army will deliver a beating to heroes. Jotun is going to pound the high defense baddies, and the Stingers can juice to kill the low-mid defense dudes. Four man range squads or melee bonding will tear this army up though. You just won't get enough attacks to keep up. The reavers aren't doing much here, as you'll probably want to lead with Jotun so he doesn't get caught in your own Reaver mess, so you won't get board control.

Army #4
While I know little about the 700 point metagame, this army seems like it'd do pretty well in it. You have plenty of offense, and Stealth Flying will let you get straight to the heavy hitters/Raelin. You don't tie down the EI with Kiova, which lets their 6 move really shine, but you also expose their greatest weakness of 3 defense.

Army #5
I've never played the Microcorp before, but this seems like a solid General Wars army. It's got a special attacker, a (fragile) bread and butter ranged squad, and a squad killer. Braxas might be too weak without Raelin or a screen, so it might be better to switch her for Laglor and another squad of Microcorps.

Re: The Army Advice and Feedback Thread

Thanks Veggie. Army #2 did seem the weakest when I laid them out, would this be better:

330 Protectors x3
450 Rats x3
490 Theracus
500 Isamu
500pts/24hex

Rats for the first to OM's then Theracus to move Isamu. Then the next round is all Protectors.

Is there a better option for 50pts than Theracus and Isamu? Maybe another squad of rats and Isamu?

Or drop Theracus, Isamu and a squad of rats and pick up Atlaga.

Re: The Army Advice and Feedback Thread

The Marro Warriors are the best 50 points you can get. Drop a rat in your SZ and get them instead. Raelin also fits in there nicely if you are willing to drop a squad of rats.

On a diffrent note, how would this do in a 450 RtW setting?

Krav 100
Laglor 210
Raelin 290
Rats x4 450

I don't know what RtW is, but that army looks like it would dominate everything except Phantom Knights.
